HIGHLIGHTS

Beginning each day before dawn and ending each day after 9:00pm would have most people in a slump. Not these Interns!
Bright-eyed and off to breakfast by 6:30am. The students participated in daily workships, seminars, field trips to housing sites and debriefing sessions.
The Institute opened with a Housing and Human Needs workship focusing on housing affordability, adequacy and availability. The week continued with Social Factors in the Design of Housing
Introduction to Real estate, Zoning and Land use laws, Site Evaluation Exercises, Proformas, Gap Analysis, Strategic Project Selection and Feasibility, fiar Housing Laws, Rental Housing and
Farm-worker case studies, Asset and Property management, operating budgets, and housing policy.
The highlight of the training was Friday when students visited a self-help housing site in Winters, California. The group measured and installed siding, cut boards and hammered up walls.
The students really enjoyed the hands-on training.
